  • Cadillac confirmed that the three-row XT6 SUV will end production this year at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee.
  • The XT6 had a five-year run and will be effectively replaced by the electric Vistiq three-row SUV, also built at the Spring Hill facility.
  • The aging XT5, another Spring Hill product, will remain in production in Tennessee until the end of 2026, Cadillac confirmed.

Cadillac continues to flesh out its electric SUV lineup at the cost of its gas-powered SUVs. Production of the subcompact Cadillac XT4 ended in January, just as sales began kicking off for the electric Optiq crossover. The Cadillac XT6 is next on the chopping block, with Cadillac confirming that production of the three-row SUV is set to conclude at the Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennessee by the end of the year.

The XT6 arrived for the 2020 model year, sharing its platform with the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia and filling a gap between the compact XT5 and the ginormous Escalade. While all three of those platform-mates recently entered a new generation, the XT6 will have lasted for just six model years. The handsome XT6, powered by either a 3.6-liter V-6 or a 2.0-liter turbo four, registered 20,225 sales last year, a 5.8 percent increase over 2023. The XT6 was behind the Escalade, Lyriq, XT5, and XT4 in sales, but it sold just about as much as the CT4 and CT5 sedans combined.

The XT6 will be effectively replaced by the electric Vistiq three-row SUV, which is just starting to reach dealerships. The Vistiq is also being built at the Spring Hill factory, slotting in alongside the electric Lyriq, which saw a huge sales surge in 2024 to become one of the bestselling EVs in the U.S.

The Vistiq starts just under $80,000, roughly $30K more than the base price of the XT6, and is powered by a pair of electric motors that combine for 615 horsepower. There are plenty of standard goodies at that price, however, such as the Super Cruise hands-free driving system, a panoramic sunroof, a 23-speaker AKG sound system, and seats that are heated, ventilated, and massaging.

The smaller XT5 is also assembled at the Spring Hill facility and is living on borrowed time. The XT5 debuted for the 2017 model year and will remain in production at Spring Hill until the end of 2026, Cadillac confirmed. A second-generation XT5 is being produced and sold in China but isn’t expected to be offered in the United States
